Little Houses

I heard about this one secluded valley
hidden way deep in the folds of the Alps
where the woodsmen have a special tradition
when they cut and harvest trees
out of the valleys vast larch forests
When a larch-tree has grown to a certain diameter
they cut it one foot higher above ground
and when that old tree has fallen off the stump
they cut from this extra foot a little house:
simple but neat
with a roof and a chimney and the idea of a door
say: the quarter-size of the diameter
so there is a yard before it left
which they cover with moss!
They do it...for the dwarfs
that dwell under the old trees
it is a gift, an offering
as since the world underground will change
so if they please there would be a little cosy home above
with a yard...to enjoy the sun!
I do not know exactly where that valley lies hidden
but...
it just...MUST BE...somewhere!
(and even if it lies from now on in the mountains of your mind)
