Evening Primrose

Suddenly they appear

in the fading twilight

of these late warm summer evenings

from wherever but you see them come

the large hovering nocturnal moths

kissing the freshly opened mouths

of the evening primroses

As in twilight they unfold their butter-yellow faces

and all night there will be sacred wild frenzy love

and the delicate stems will be nodding and sighing

towards buzzing wings and curious proboscis

and then towards morning

the moth falls asleep all drunk for a day

while the flower withers all pregnant and

drops in exhaustion towards father sun

Yes

a lot is done in the night

in the absence of light

a lot is done nocturnal.....

the deeper the night

the more powerful the unity

Well I have touched the Earth's skin tonight

on certain spots most nocturnally soft and wild

and something most heartfelt happened

So...as I am puzzled...

please tell me again about

the nature of paradise and hell

about your division of good and evil

about the wings of heaven

and the proboscis of eternal damnation

for my heart is all pregnant

and my mind does not understand
